Congressional Midterm: Falls Church Precincts Support Beyer; Voter Turnout

As Rep. Don Beyer was re-elected to another term, here's a look at how strong support was at City of Falls Church precincts.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Tuesday's congressional midterm elections saw most Virginia representatives hold onto their seats, including Alexandria's Rep. Don Beyer in the 8th congressional district. At the precinct level, support for Beyer was higher at City of Falls Church precincts.

Beyer was named the projected winner in the election over Republican challenger Karina Lipsman and Independent Teddy Fikre. Beyer received 188,285 votes to Lipsman's 64,503 and Fikre's 3,764, according to unofficial results. The only missing votes are provisional ballots, which include same day registration votes.

In the City of Falls Church, Beyer received 5,000 votes, Lipsman received 1,170 votes and Fikre received 93 votes. The provisional ballot results and mail-in ballots processed after Election Day are not yet counted.

According to a tweet from Falls Church Registrar Dave Bjerke, voter turnout was 61 percent, according to unofficial counts. That includes 2,983 early votes, 1,175 in Ward 1 (Oak Street Elementary), 950 in Ward 2 (Falls Green) and 1,165 in Ward 3 (Community Center). There were 122 provisional ballots cast, including 92 from same day registrations.

Beyer: 738 votes, 90.00 percent

Lipsman: 70 votes, 8.54 percent

Fikre: 11 votes, 1.34 percent

Beyer: 1,821 votes, 84.27 percent

Lipsman: 327 votes, 15.13 percent

Fikre: 13 votes, 0.60 percent

001 - FIRST WARD (08)

Beyer: 881 votes, 74.98 percent

Lipsman: 266 votes, 22.64 percent

Fikre: 24 votes, 2.04 percent

002 - SECOND WARD (08)

Beyer: 706 votes, 74.32 percent

Lipsman: 219 votes, 23.05 percent

Fikre: 22 votes, 2.32 percent

003 - THIRD WARD (08)

Beyer: 854 votes, 73.30 percent

Lipsman: 288 votes, 24.72 percent

Fikre: 23 votes, 1.97 percent
