Family Holds Fundraiser For DC Man Who Died In Fairfax County Crash
The family of a 24-year-old D.C. man who died last week in a crash in Fairfax County is holding a fundraiser to help pay funeral costs.
DC/VIRGINIA — The family of a 24-year-old Washington, D.C., man who died last week in a crash on the Capital Beltway in Fairfax County is holding an online fundraiser to help pay for his funeral expenses.
The man, Elson Turcios, died in an early morning crash last Thursday on I-495, according to the Virginia State Police. State troopers responded around 2:59 a.m. for the report of a crash in the northbound access lanes of I-495 near Route 50.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2020 Volkswagen Golf traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the rear-end of a dump truck, the state police said.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Elson Turcios, who passed away October 21st, 2021,” the GoFundMe page reads. “He was a wonderful son, brother, grandson, and friend. He had a vibrant, sweet, kind soul.”
The GoFundMe page notes that no donation is too small. “All donations will be given to his parents Manuel and Nelly Turcios, so they can put their son to rest,” the page says.
