Driver Charged After Pedestrian Killed In Falls Church Crash
Fairfax County Police believe a woman and juvenile were hit by a driver in a stolen vehicle.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — A pedestrian died and another was injured after being struck by a driver in a stolen vehicle in the Falls Church area Saturday.
The crash happened before 3 p.m. around the intersection of Shreve Road and Hickory Street right outside the City of Falls Church. A woman had been walking with a juvenile and entered a crosswalk when the stolen 2013 Nissan Titan pickup truck hit them. Detectives believe the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the road.
Betty Ana Bernstein-Zabza, 60, of Falls Church, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. The juvenile was treated for minor injuries.

The driver ran from the scene, but officers arrested him shortly afterward. David Alan Francis, 46, of South Riding, was charged with one count of felony hit and run. More charges are expected, and police believe he may have been involved in other crimes Saturday in Fairfax County and surrounding jurisdictions.
Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Crash Reconstruction Unit at 703-280-0543.
