Fire at Falls Church Area Bakery Does $50,000 Damage

Firefighters responded Tuesday night to a commercial building fire in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County. The building, Jenin Pastry, is located at 5820 Seminary Road, Falls Church, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

When firefighters arrived, smoke coming from the rear of the two-story building upon arrival, the fire department said. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, the department said. The sprinkler system activated, helping to keep the fire contained to the kitchen area, the department noted. The smoke alarm also activated. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The hot stove cooktop was too close to a shelf and caught fire.
