Food Challenge Called Battle of Broad Street Planned In Falls Church
In July, Harvey's will host a food challenge between two Falls Church businesses. There's a catch for the losing competitor.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Falls Church businesses will compete in a new foodie challenge called the Battle of Broad Street in July to benefit a local cause.
Harvey's, a restaurant that opened earlier this year, will host the Battle of Broad Street on July 20 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature a friendly competition between the Neighborhood Barbershop crew and Fin of Mister Finster’s Tattoo Studio will prepare food items in hopes of winning the bestselling dish of the day.
Harvey's will donate 10 percent of sales from the competing dishes to the Falls Church Education Foundation, which raises supplemental funds to support Falls Church City Public Schools.

"It is a wonderful opportunity to be able to collaborate with our gracious neighbors to give back to the community we serve," said Thomas Harvey, owner and chef of Harvey’s, in a statement. "We are blessed to have an expansive patio and vibrant partners who enjoy a bit of artistic and friendly competition for a worthy cause."
Each dish will cost $10, with $1 from each supporting the Falls Church Education Foundation. Neighborhood Barbershop's crew will offer the following dishes: Dustin’s Beyond Beef kofta with pickled pineapple bacon and chili sauce; Jay’s bacon-wrapped poblano pepper stuffed with chicken andouille sausage, corn and pimiento Cheese; and Will’s beef stuffed with Harvey’s mac and cheese sauce, rolled in chiccarones and barber sauce. The dish that sells out first not only wins bragging rights for Neighborhood Barbershop or Finster’s Tattoo Studio. The winning dish will be featured on Harvey's menu for one month. In addition, $1 from each winning dish sold will continue to be provided to the Falls Church Education Foundation through that one month. The donation will be provided to the foundation at the end of August in the winner's name.
The losing dish with the least sales at Battle of Broad Street will get an image of the winning dish in a permanent tattoo by Mister Finster’s Tattoo Studio. The tattoo designs of all four competing dishes will be on display at Battle of Broad Street.
Audacious Aleworks and Metro Cellars will also be on site to provide drinks paired with each dish. Prices for drinks will range from $8 to $12.
Harvey's, the first restaurant opened by Chef Thomas Harvey, is located at 513 W. Broad Street in Falls Church.
