Four Residents Displaced After Fire In Lake Barcroft Area
Fire investigators say improperly discarded smoking materials on a deck started the blaze.
LAKE BARCROFT, VA—Four people are displaced after a fire in a Lake Barcroft area home on Friday, June 14.
Firefighters from Fairfax County, Alexandria, and Arlington County fire departments responded to the two-story home in the 6300 block of Columbia Pike. Units found fire showing from the front of the roof and front of the home, and a second alarm was requested.
A passerby was the first to discover the fire and alerted the two residents inside. They evacuated before help arrived. No one was injured during the lengthy time it took to extinguish the fire.

Fire investigators determined improperly discarded smoking materials caused the fire on the rear deck. Smoke alarms were working properly in the home.
The initial damage estimate was $218,500, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. The displaced residents turned down Red Cross assistance.
