Giant Store Replaces Shoppers In Seven Corners
Giant added another location in the Falls Church area at the former location of Shoppers.

SEVEN CORNERS, VA — The former Shopper locations has reopened as a Giant grocery store at 6360 Seven Corners Center, Falls Church. The store opened at 6 a.m. on Friday, March 6 and provided 100 jobs.
"Our newest store is designed to the make the shopping experience clear and simple and our expanded product offering will make it easier than ever to enjoy great food," said Ira Kress, Giant's interim president. "Not only have we expanded our amazing, high quality food selection across the aisles and throughout every department, we have done so with a focus on our environment with energy saving equipment and lighting, demonstrating our commitment to be a leader in sustainability.”
The 69,000-square-foot store was designed with energy efficiency in mind, including LED lighting and refrigerators that preserve energy. Among the features of the store are a PNC Bank branch, Starbucks and full pharmacy. The store has expanded cheese, deli, meat and seafood departments, a fresh cut fruit station, extensive ethnic food section and full-service floral section. The store also provides Giant’s Pickup service, which lets customers place an order online and get associates to deliver the order to their car.

Giant is a Landover-Maryland based company with 163 locations in Virginia, Maryland, DC and Delaware. It is separate from the Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based company bearing the same name. The brand's other Falls Church area locations are at the Falls Plaza and Graham Park Plaza, while Bailey's Crossroads has a location at Crossroads Place.
The Seven Corners Shoppers location had already closed when parent company United Natural Foods, Inc. announced intentions in December to close or sell other Shoppers locations. Other Northern Virginia locations that have closed were at Potomac Yard Shopping Center in Alexandria, Festival at Manchester Lakes in Franconia, Bull Run Plaza in Manassas and Rolling Valley Mall in Burke. The Burke location is slated to become a Lidl grocery store.
