Haycock Elementary School Named 2014 National Blue Ribbon School

School will be honored at an awards ceremony in November in Washington, D.C.

Haycock Elementary School, a Fairfax County public school, is one of seven public schools in Virginia to be named a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private K-12 schools that are academically superior or demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.

Earlier this year, Haycock Elementary earned a Board of Education Excellence Award through the Virginia Index of Performance program.

National Blue Ribbon Schools are selected based on performance on state assessments, or schools with at least 40 percent of students from disadvantaged backgrounds that raise achievement as measured by state assessments or national standardized tests.
