Human Trafficking Here?

Dr. Kimberly Mehman-Orozco will present on human trafficking in our communities at the Feb. 17 meeting of the Republican Women of Clifton

The Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) welcomes Dr. Kimberly Mehlman-Orozco to speak on human trafficking at its February meeting. The event will take place Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station. The social half-hour will begin at 7 pm; presentation to follow at 7:30 pm.

Dr. Mehlman-Orozco has a PhD in Criminology, Law and Society from George Mason University and serves as on the steering committee of the Greater Prince William County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force. Her expertise encompasses issues related to foreign national crime, immigration, human trafficking, and organized crime. Most recently, she presented to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in New York on mapping and identifying networks of massage parlors involved in human trafficking. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Justitia Institute, an anti-trafficking, immigration and social justice research non-profit organization. She has been interviewed by a number of media outlets including USA Today.

The meeting will also provide a venue where candidates for Chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee, incumbent Matt Ames, and challenger Tim Hannigan, will offer brief remarks on their goals for the organization.

Attendees are invited to contribute $5 at the door for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors of our fallen heroes, a 2016 RWC charity partner.
