Liberty Barbecue Opens In Place Of Famous Dave's

FALLS CHURCH, VA—Barbecue still reigns at 370 West Broad Street in Falls Church, as Liberty Barbecue opened in the former Famous Dave's location. The location officially opened Dec. 15 with a special "Brews and BBQ" grand opening event.

Famous Dave's, a barbecue chain with a few other DC area locations, closed its Falls Church restaurant in February, the Falls Church News-Press reported. Since the owners of Liberty Tavern and Northside Social coffee and wine bar in Arlington have been working to open Liberty Barbecue in Falls Church.

A Falls Church Northside Social location is also in the works at North Maple and Park Avenues, and the owners recently said via social media it could open in mid to late February 2018.

At Liberty Barbecue, diners can expect to see the usual barbecue fare with a variety of smoked meats, sandwiches and sides. But one striking difference between the barbecue spots is the hours. For the time being, Liberty Barbecue opens at 5 p.m., geared toward the dinner and happy hour crowd. In January, it will expand to lunch and brunch hours.
