The man, identified as 38-year-old Patrick Michael Chaloupka, was already in the Fairfax County jail on charges in connection with a sexual assault at a hotel in the Vienna area.

When Chaloupka arrived in the room around 3 a.m., he threatened the woman with a knife and assaulted her, the police said. The woman was able to defend herself, and Chaloupka left the hotel.

Through the physical evidence recovered at the scene and similarities with the other assault, detectives also charged Chaloupka with abduction with intent to defile and forcible sodomy. Chaloupka remains held at the Fairfax County jail without bond.
