Man In Custody After Hours-Long Barricade Near Seven Corners

An hours-long barricade ended as police took a man into custody.

LAKE BARCROFT, VA — A standoff involving a man with a rifle ended hours later just south of Seven Corners in Fairfax County, according to police.

Around 5:13 p.m., police said they were responding to the 3300 block of Rio Drive for a man with a rifle shouting threats on a balcony. Negotiators are on scene to attempt a peaceful resolution. Residents in apartments units at 6147 Leesburg Pike and 3245 Rio Drive were asked to shelter in place.

After midnight, police reported the man was in custody. Residents will follow police direction to be allowed back into their residential building.
