Man Sick Of Solicitor Pretends To Be Police Officer
According to police, the Falls Church man used the name of a retired officer to fend off a solicitor.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—A Falls Church man is accused of impersonating a police officer as a strategy to scare off a solicitor. What was the mistake that got him caught? Well, for one he was using a retired female officer's name and speaking in a man's voice.
Officials say the man, an AT&T employee, allegedly began a prepaid phone number and account with a voicemail saying he was a Fairfax County Police officer. He also used it to send text messages to a company he was tired of being solicited by.
In December, a resident reported the man and found out he was using the retired female officer's name. Investigations led police to identify Steve Maldonado, 38, as the suspect.
