Man Who Fled Mental Facility Located, Police Say

Public was asked to help locate man who has exhibited violent behavior. He was found in Loudoun County.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- The man who fled Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute on Monday, was located Thursday night in Leesburg, according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Marshall, 33, of Centreville is in custody. He is being detained on warrants by the Virginia State Police.

State and local law enforcement had been trying to locate Marshall since Monday; Fairfax County Police called him a potentially violent man who fled the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute in the Falls Church and Annandale area.

Police had warned residents to exercise caution and to not approach Marshall. He was noticed missing Monday around 6 p.m. Marshall has been known to exhibit violent behavior. A detention order was issued for his immediate apprehension and return.

Authorities searched the Annandale and Falls Church area near the facility, but said he also has ties to the Sequoia Farms Drive and Woodfield Drive area in Centreville, as well as Sterling.
