Meeting To Detail Progress On George Mason Campus Project
Residents are invited to learn about the latest phase of the new George Mason campus and redevelopment of the current school site.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—As planning moves forward for the new George Mason High School campus, residents can learn about the latest progress on the campus project and the redevelopment on the current school site (the West Falls Church Economic Development Project) at a Sunday, Jan. 28 meeting. The public meeting will be held at 2 p.m. at the Senior Center, on the upper level of the Falls Church Community Center.
Falls Church City Public Schools has accepted conceptual school design proposals since voters approved $120 million in bonds to pay for a new George Mason High School campus in November 2017. As of Jan. 25, the city has received conceptual design proposals from: Clark Construction, Davis/Smoot (joint venture with Perkins Eastman), Gilbane Building Co., Grunley Construction and Turner Architecture.
All proposals will be available to view on www.fallschurchva.gov by Jan. 31. The final design and construction team will be chosen over the summer.

Summer will also be the time when the city will begin accepting development proposals for the West Falls Church Economic Development Project. This project intends to defray some of the George Mason campus project costs by selling the 10 acres of the current campus. A city economic feasibility study showed a long-term lease or sale could earn up to $45 million.
Falls Church will accept and review economic development proposals later this year, and a public hearing could happen in September.
