Mouse Droppings: Falls Church Restaurant Violations

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for local restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from recent inspections in July. Among the violations were mouse droppings at Moe's Southwest Grill.

Java Works Fairview Park Cafe: 3190 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, VA 22042, last inspection: July 11

violations: employee did not wash hands after handling raw eggs, knives improperly stored in stagnant water, improper cooling method for chicken

Latino Chicken Place: 7263-G Arlington Boulevard, Falls Church, VA 22042, last inspection: July 11

violations: food employee not washing hands in between tasks, employees wearing jewelry during food prep, sugar and salt not labeled

Moe's Southwest Grill: 5855 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22041, last inspection: July 10

violation: mouse dropping on basement stairs, on boxes in basement, on old equipment in basement and inside empty storage cabinet near soda machine

New Season Restaurant: 7279 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22042, last inspection: July 10

violations: foods on menu without raw/undercooked disclosure, black mold inside ice machine

Panera Bread: 5857-C Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22041, last inspection: July 11

violation: food not properly cooled within four hours

Pho Golden Cow: 7246 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22042, last inspection: July 11

violations: bean sprouts cold holding at improper temperature, food strainer not cleaned properly, food container not sanitized
