National Donut Day: Five Deals Near Falls Church

FALLS CHURCH, VA -- Who doesn't love National Donut Day? It should be every day, but until that happens, at least it falls on a Friday.

Every year, the much-anticipated day falls on the first Friday of June. The first Donut Day was celebrated in 1938 to recognize Salvation Army members who served donuts to soldiers in World War I.

There are donut deals are happening all day Friday, June 2 to end your work week right. Whether you want to buy from your local shop or are looking for the best deal, there are options around Falls Church.

Astro Donuts: 7511 Leesburg Pike #103, Falls Church, VA 22043

The local donut shop isn't giving away free donuts, but it's raising money for a great cause. The Cherry Pie doughnut will only be available Friday, and all sales of this donut will go military families through the Fisher House Foundation.

Stores are offering a free classic donut with the purchase of a drink.

Sugar Shack Donuts: 1014 S Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA 22204

The Virginia-based chain is giving away a free donut to customers that wear a Sugar Shack T-shirt. Others can buy one and get a coupon for a free donut beginning on June 3.

Duck Donuts: 2511 N Harrison St, Arlington, VA 22207

Duck Donuts is giving customers a free donut of their choice with any purchase. In addition, your receipt will also have a "Buy One Get One Free 1/2 Dozen" redeemable until Aug. 31.

Krispy Kreme: 1350 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036 or 6332 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306

Krispy Kreme is giving out a free donut with no purchase necessary.
