New Member Volunteers Are Welcomed To Assistance League

Getting Involved Is A Great Way To Help Kids In The Community

MEMBERS WELCOME! Assistance League of Northern Virginia is thrilled to report that it has recruited 15 new members since September. As a relatively small chapter, adding that many members to its previous base of about 50 members is phenomenal and bodes well for the nonprofit’s hopes to expand its efforts. During National Volunteer month in April, nine of the new members attended orientation sessions at two local coffee shops, where they learned specifics about Assistance League’s activities and programs and posed questions to the board members who attended. Many of the new members had joined because of their interest in the Literacy for Kids program, especially one-on-one tutoring, and some had already started tutoring. The new members’ enthusiastic interest in Assistance League’s programs was evident and all attendees enjoyed the experience of making new friends through a shared interest in improving their community. That’s just one of the reasons why members of Assistance League volunteer.
