New Powerball Millionaire From Falls Church: Lottery Officials

Chay Nguyen picked up his winning ticket when he stopped for gas at Woodstock Sunoco.

Release, Virginia Lottery:

Chay Nguyen drives a lot for his work. When he stopped for gas at Woodstock Sunoco on West Reservoir Road in Woodstock, he decided to play Powerball. That turned out to be a million-dollar decision.

The Falls Church man matched the first five numbers in the January 24 Powerball drawing. The winning numbers were 16-19-20-29-33, and the Powerball number was 10. The only number he didn’t match was the Powerball number. He used Easy Pick, allowing the computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket.

Had he matched that Powerball number, he would have won a jackpot estimated at $230 million. His ticket was the only one in Virginia to match the first five numbers in that drawing and one of just ten nationwide.

He’s not the only winner. The store receives a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. They are broadcast on TV stations across Virginia and live on www.valottery.com. For more information on Powerball, visit www.powerball.com.
