New Italian Restaurant to Open Tuesday, August 6 in Merrifield

Visitors and residents of Merrifield will soon have a new dining choice, with the opening Friday of Ovvio Osteria.

The restaurant is located at 2727 Merrilee Dr. and is part of the Halstead Square apartment community.

Chef/Partner Chris Watson will showcase seasonal ingredients in a range of menu items including antipasti, insalata, pastas, entrees, and pizza, according to a news release. Guided by the bounty of the earth, meats and produce will be fresh and in season while everything is prepared in house including pasta, bread and pastries.

Ovvio will provide a sophisticated, well stocked and staffed bar with an Italian-focused wine list and a small selection of American labels to complement any meal. Diners are welcome to try Italian and seasonal beers on tap or a classic cocktail with an Italian twist. One such innovation gains inspiration from the classic Old Fashioned; the amalfi has the makings of the well-known cocktail but incorporates Italian flavors for a familiar yet diverse sensation with Makers Mark, limoncello, strawberries, lemon and bitters.

Dinner service hours of operation are: Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday 4 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. to 12 midnight. Lunch and brunch service hours will be announced shortly.
