SEVEN CORNERS, VA — One of the two drivers involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian in a Seven Corners parking lot on Aug. 18 has been charged by Fairfax County Police.

The pedestrian, Albert Sweat, 62, of Maryland, was struck while walking in the parking lot of the Corner at Seven Corners shopping center around 8:38 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18. Police investigations determined a 2012 Honda Civic driver heading north on Wilson Boulevard made an improper lane change from the left lane, striking a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta. The crash caused the Volkswagen to leave the roadway into an adjacent parking lot, striking the pedestrian. The Volkswagen also struck a parked 2010 GMC Yukon in the parking lot.

Sweat had been taken to the hospital and pronounced dead. This was Fairfax County's 13th pedestrian death in 2022.
