Falls Church Woman Fatally Struck By Car While Walking Along Leesburg Pike
A Falls Church woman who was walking in the shoulder along Route 7 in Bailey's Crossroads was fatally struck by a car Monday, police said.

BAILEY'S CROSSROADS, VA — A Falls Church woman who was walking in the shoulder along Leesburg Pike in the Bailey's Crossroads area was struck by a car Monday and later died at the hospital, the Fairfax County Police Department said Wednesday.
At around 11 a.m. on Monday, Nguyet Ly, 68, was walking east along the westbound travel lane of Leesburg Pike (Route 7). There is no sidewalk in the portion of the roadway where Ly was walking, police said.
The driver of a 2018 Subaru Impreza was making a right turn out of a business in the 5900 block of Leesburg Pike and struck Ly in the roadway, according to the police department. Ly was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries later that evening, the police said.

This is the 13th pedestrian death in Fairfax County in 2021. At this time last year, the county had 14 pedestrian deaths.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in Monday’s fatal crash, according to the police department’s preliminary findings. Fairfax County police are continuing their investigation into Ly’s death, and details of the investigation will be presented to the Office of the Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney for review.
