Person Found Dead In West Falls Church Fire, No Firefighters Hurt
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to the fire in the early hours of Wednesday.

WEST FALLS CHURCH, VA — A resident was found dead in a house fire early Wednesday in West Falls Church, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
The fire occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 3200 block of Alice Court. Fairfax County and Arlington County units arrived to find fire showing on one side of the single-family home from the top floor through the roof. The fire was quickly extinguished, but firefighters located a deceased resident.
A neighbor had discovered the fire, called 911, and attempted to rescue the resident. There were no other residents present at the time of the fire.

An autopsy will determine the victim’s identity and cause of death. There were no firefighter injuries.
Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be an electrical malfunction that occurred within a multi-plug extension cord in a top-floor bedroom. Smoke alarms were present, but the fire department said it was unclear if they activated. Damages were estimated to be $93,750.
