Pimmit Hills Fire Caused By Candle Displaces 8 Residents
An unattended candle in an attic space started a fire Monday night, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said.

PIMMIT HILLS, VA — A fire caused by a candle displaced eight residents in Pimmit Hills Monday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Around 9:02 p.m., units responded to a one-story single-family home in the 2000 block of Griffith Road. Firefighters found smoke coming from the attic and located a small fire there. There were no reported injuries.
Eight occupants were home when the fire happened. One resident discovered the fire in the attic space, and all residents evacuated and called 911. Working smoke alarms did not activate due to the location of the fire.

Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire was an unattended candle that spread fire to nearby combustibles. Damages were estimated to be around $30,000.
The eight displaced residents accepted Red Cross assistance.
