Police: Cruiser Rammed During Pursuit; Suspect Apprehended
Avery Q. Mason, 22, of Stafford faces multiple charges, according to Fairfax County Police.

Fairfax County Police say a suspect who was allegedly fleeing a police officer intentionally rammed the officer’s police vehicle in the early morning hours Wednesday; the pursuit began in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County.
This morning at about 12:40 a.m., near Lee Highway and Hollywood Road, an officer driving a marked police cruiser stopped a 2006 Honda Coupe for a traffic violation, according to FCPD.
Police say the driver disregarded the officer’s signal to stop and fled onto I-495 South. At I495 near I-95, the driver intentionally rammed the officer’s cruiser. The officer utilized what is called the “Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT)” to bring the pursuit to an end and the driver was taken into custody.

The driver was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police. The officer went to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Avery Q. Mason, 22, of Stafford was charged with felony speed to elude, DWI, attempted malicious wounding to law enforcement, two counts of felony destruction of property and felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
