Barricade Incident Ends Peacefully In Seven Corners

Police say the man is receiving a mental health evaluation after threatening to harm himself.

SEVEN CORNERS, VA—Fairfax County Police resolved an hours-long barricade situation in Seven Corners Friday morning. Police say the man was taken into custody and is receiving a mental health evaluation.

Around 2 a.m., police responded to The Jefferson apartment building in the 6100 block of Leesburg Pike for "a man acting erratically." The man had been partially out of a fifth floor window, had a knife and threatened to harm himself.

Officers made contact with the man but continued to negotiate a peaceful resolution for hours. Police say there was no threat to public safety, but residents were asked to avoid the area. The scene was contained to one apartment.

At 9 a.m., the barricade was over. There was no use of force, police say.
