Power Issue Draws Fire Department Response At Falls Church Apartments

Residents evacuated from one building and power was shut off Monday night due to a cable failure.

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A power issue prompted residents in one Falls Church apartment building to evacuate Monday night.

The power issue was reported at 505 Roosevelt Boulevard, one of four residential buildings in the Falls Green Apartments. Residents evacuated outside as the fire alarm sounded. A city spokesperson said there were no injuries.

According to Arlington County fire scanner reports, residents started returning to the building around midnight when Dominion Energy confirmed it was safe to return.

Dominion Energy spokesperson Peggy Fox said the issue was a cable failure. Power had been shut off as Dominion Energy responded to the scene Monday night. Crews are working with an estimated power restoration around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
