Roaches, Flies And 12 Other Violations At Falls Church Restaurant

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for City of Falls Church and county restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from Falls Church inspections in September. Among the violations were 13 at Chevy's Fresh Mex, including roaches, signs of rodents, and flies. Some of the violations were corrected, but the pest violation will result in a follow up.

Also included are restaurants with no violations. Reports are typically posted five to seven days after the inspections. Full reports are available on the health department’s website. Click on the violations to see each restaurant's results.

violations: employee did not wash hands in between handling raw and ready-to-eat foods, employee handling lemons without gloves, foods cold holding at improper temperatures (all corrected), cooler not operating properly, openings along door could allow entry of pests, live roaches in veggie wash dispenser, drain flies, presence of rodents in dry storage area and hot water heater

violation: employee drinking from uncovered drinking container

Five Guys Burgers and Fries: 6134-A Arlington Blvd, FALLS CHURCH, VA 22044, last inspection: Sept. 19

violations: employee changed gloves but did not wash hands after handling raw meat, tomatoes not properly cooled within four hours (both corrected)
