Sears To Close In Seven Corners, Few NoVA Locations Remain
A liquidation sale is happening at the Sears location following a recent round of closures impacting other Virginia stores.
SEVEN CORNERS, VA — One of the few Sears locations remaining in Northern Virginia is preparing to close. The last day of business for the Sears at 6211 Leesburg Pike in Seven Corners is Sunday, April 12.
The store has already begun markdown sales. Sales start at 10 percent to 50 percent off the lowest ticketed price, according to signs in the store. That applies to the store's entire selection of appliances, furniture, clothing and other items. All sales are final.
Liquidation sales are popping up at Sears and Kmart stores across the country. These closures are in addition to the 96 stores that parent company Transformco said in November would close by February — locations included Manassas, Fredericksburg, Richmond and Winchester. USA Today reports it found liquidation sales slated to continue into March and April at dozens of new stores throughout the nation.

Although a company spokesman did not confirm with USA Today the list of new stores expected to close, the publication named 28 Sears and 14 Kmart locations currently holding liquidation sales.
There are no immediate plans to close the Sears store at the Landmark Mall in Alexandria. It's one of the few businesses remaining on the site after the mall closed in early 2017. Landmark Mall owner Howard Hughes Corporation is planning a redevelopment of the mall into a mixed-use project.

Other locations remaining open are the Sears Outlet at Potomac Mills in Woodbridge and Sears at Dulles Town Center in Sterling.
Following the February closures, Transformco now operates 182 Sears and Kmart stores nationwide. The closings do not affect the company's Sears Hometown stores, which specialize in home appliances, equipment and tools.
