Stephen Lubnow Looks To Show and Prove This Season
Lubnow was an all Bull Run safety selection in 2010 and is looking to make 2011 even better for himself and his teammates.
As the Mustangs stride into their third game of the season (1-1 on the season) against Warren County High School, they have a lot to play for. Their second straight home game coming off a spirited 24-7 win over Luray High School, after a long week off they are ready to go.
Just ask Stephen Lubnow, the 6 -foot 205-pound senior who doubles as a quarterback and defensive back. Lubnow was an all Bull Run District safety selection last year and if that’s not enough positions, he also sees some time at running back. He said he is drawing interest from several division one schools.
Warren County’s starting running back is headed to James Madison University, and Lubnow is focused on containing him.

“If I look good against him it would look good on film,” Lubnow said. “I think we can win this game, I love these kind of games.”
Lubnow was part of a large group of teammates that dedicated themselves to a disciplined weight room schedule throughout the offseason, eating together and getting ready for the season. The universities of Richmond and Elon both expressed interest in Lubnow, who has not yet committed to play at a school next year. He called the 24-7 victory over Luray a “comeback,” because they were in fact actually trailing 7-0 before scoring 24 unanswered points.

“It’s weird you know, four years ago I was playing JV, and now I’m the older guy,” Lubnow said. “It was an honor working hard in the weight room with my teammates getting pumped for the year. All year I was just thinking we can be better next season. Now, it’s my senior year, I gotta make it count, every game.”
The Mustangs take the field at 7:30 p.m.
