Height was the name of the game on Saturday, as Edison used its size enroute to a 75-17 win over J.E.B. Stuart High.
The Eagles' main threat came in the form of sisters Ruth and Sheila Sherrill, who combined for 30 points. The duo, a junior and sophomore, stood a head taller than most of Stuart's players and dominated the glass. The Raiders struggled to get rebounds against the pair, and the team as a whole.
Eagles coach Marcus McKinney, who was filling in for an ill Dianne Lewis, said he was proud of the team's play.
“We shared the ball well today,” McKinney said. “We executed the half-court set and our height advantage definitely came into play. We still need to work hard to prepare for the district tournament. We are always working to improve our defense, as well.”
The Raiders didn’t go down without a fight. Senior guard Angie McCaffrey
had seven of her teams points, including two consecutive three-pointers in the second quarter.
