Juniors Ameer Biddle and Ryan Faison combined for 22 points, but the rest of Stuart's offense couldn't keep up with Edison as the Eagles defeated the Raiders 70-37 on Saturday afternoon.
Edison's Matt Murphy scored 21 points in the Eagle’s victory.
After a slow first quarter, the Eagles exploded and dominated the glass for the remainder of the game. The Eagles used a full-court press to intimidate the Raiders and force turnovers.
“The full-court press didn’t work exactly how we wanted it to,” said Edison head coach Terry Henderson, who felt his boys came out flat in the first quarter. “We wanted it to cause a few more turnovers and it just didn’t seem to bother [Stuart] that much.”
Henderson felt that his players, as well as the others, weren’t at the top of their games, possibly because of the several snow days students got this week after FCPS cancelled school Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
“It’s a different atmosphere playing on a Saturday,” Henderson said. “They haven’t been practicing or at school and are a little lazy.”
