Sunset Cinema Starts Next Week in Falls Church

Pack up a picnic and go! 'The Lego Movie' and 'Frozen' are on tap; plus vote for your fave among three for the second film in the series.

Don’t let the summer get away from you! Sunset Cinema begins next Friday, Aug. 15, in Falls Church and it’s a perfect way to enjoy summertime before thoughts turn to school.

Here’s the scoop, from the City of Falls Church:

The City of Falls Church Recreation and Parks Department presents the 11th Annual Sunset Cinema in the Park on Fridays this summer. The free screenings of family-friendly movies begin at 8 p.m. in Cherry Hill Park (312 Park Ave.)

Moviegoers are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. In the event of inclement weather, the movies will take place at the Falls Church Community Center (223 Little Falls St.). For more information, call 703-248-5027 (TTY 711).

Friday, Aug. 15: The Lego Movie
This computer animated story follows Emmet, a LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and is key to saving the world. Rated PG.

Friday, Aug. 22 Viewers’ Choice! Vote for this year’s second film. The choices are:

The Karate Kid (PG, 1984)The Mighty Ducks (PG, 1992)Back to the Future (PG, 1985)

Friday, Aug. 29: Frozen
A prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, so Anna must team up with a daring mountain man, to find the Snow Queen and put an end to the icy spell. Rated PG.
