The company’s unique virtual reality experience will be on both sites from 12-4pm, allowing individuals to safely experience what can happen when they take their eyes off the road to look at their phones. AT&T uses events like this to help drive home the dangers of using a smartphone while driving.
IT CAN WAIT is a national movement urging drivers to keep their eyes on the road, not on their phones because distracted driving is never OK. The campaign began with a focus on not texting and driving, but it has now expanded to the broader dangers of smartphone use behind the wheel.
Since its launch in 2010, the campaign has:
- Identified that 95% of drivers disapprove of distracted driving, yet 71% engage in smartphone activities while driving
- Found that nearly 4 in 10 people social network while driving and 49% of commuters text while driving
- Worked with departments of transportation on research that suggests a correlation between IT CAN WAIT campaign activities and a reduction in crashes
- Inspired more than 19 million pledges to not drive distracted
Come experience the virtual reality with IT CAN WAIT and remember, distracted driving is never OK.
