Tom Dolan Swim School Opens Friday In Falls Church
The Olympic gold medalist seeks to teach swimming as a life skill in the area where he grew up.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—The opening date is set for Olympic gold medalist Tom Dolan's swim school in Falls Church: Friday, Feb. 22. The swim school opens at the Willston II Shopping Center, 6112-A Arlington Boulevard.
The Falls Church swim school is Dolan's second location. The other location is in the Dulles area. Dolan, who grew up in Arlington, now lives in Falls Church and has four young kids.
Dolan turned to the instructional side of swimming after his run at elite competitions ended. He opened his first swim school opened in 2012, seeking to fill a need in the DC area.

The school’s motto "Swim Thru Life" emphasizes Dolan's belief in teaching his swimmers a life skills, not just an activity. The Tom Dolan Swim School provides classes for infants to adults with four levels: learn-to-swim, stroke development, stroke enhancement and adult swimming.
The new swim school aims to accommodate families with family-friendly doorways for strollers, family changing rooms, open parent viewing areas and play spaces for siblings. The facility also has on-deck showers, 90-degree pool water, sound proofing, a state-of-the-art filtration system and special lights to support well-being and performance.

Dolan won back-to-back gold medals in the 400 Individual Medley in at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and 2000 Sydney Olympics. Dolan also won a silver medal in the 200 Individual Medley in 2000 and held the 400 Individual Medley World Record for nine years. He won two gold medals at the World Championships, was a 14-time US National Champion, and is inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
