Tractor-Trailer Strikes, Kills Falls Church Man On Beltway
Police say the man got out of his vehicle after a crash and tried to cross northbound 495.
A Falls Church man was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer while attempting to cross lanes on the Capital Beltway Saturday, June 8.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on northbound I-495 less than a mile south of Route 7, according to Virginia State Police. The man's Honda Accord was heading north when the driver ran off the right side of the highway. The car struck a concrete barrier and a guard rail.
Police say the driver got out of the car and tried to cross the northbound Beltway in front of a tractor-trailer. The truck driver tried to brake but was not able to avoid hitting the man. Another tractor-trailer rear-ended the truck as a result.

The car driver, Barrington Holt, 82, of Falls Church, was pronounced dead on the scene. The truck drivers were not injured.
Police did not announce charges.
