Trick-Or-Treat: Where To Get Halloween Candy In Falls Church

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Expect more trick-or-treaters out on Halloween night as health guidance for the holiday looks different from last year.

Falls Church does not set a specific time for trick-or-treat, so you can expect costumed kids to roam the neighborhood on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 31. Check with your neighbors and homeowners' association to confirm trick-or-treat times.

Last year, Falls Church recommended against traditional trick-or-treating in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance.

For this Halloween, Falls Church has listed several precautions for trick-or-treaters and Halloween parties:

• Outdoors is safer than indoors.
• If you are sick or have symptoms, don’t host or attend a gathering.
• Wear a well-fitting mask; a costume mask is not a substitute.
• Unvaccinated people, including children younger than 12 years old, should wear a mask.
• You might choose to wear a mask regardless of the level of transmission if a member of your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is unvaccinated, like children younger than 12 years old.
• Do not put a mask on children younger than 2 years old.

Families also are encouraged to keep six feet of distance from other households, and wash hands or use hand sanitizer before eating candy.

Residents who hand out candy are encouraged to set up an area outside for candy. Candy can be spaced out so multiple people don't reach into the same bowl, or creative ideas like a candy chute can be utilized.

On Saturday, Oct. 30, Falls Church is holding its Halloween Carnival at Cherry Hill Park. Children can attend one of two time slots: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., or 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Time-slots are not age-specific; the same activities are available at both time slots.

This year's Halloween Carnival includes games, inflatables, live music and snacks. The Mount Daniel Elementary Second Grade class will perform at 1:15 p.m. and King Bullfrog at 2 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

The cost to attend and participate in carnival activities is $1 per person. Masks will be required for children 12 and under while participating in activities and are encouraged for all others.

Trunk-or-treat is another event for children to get Halloween candy with safe distancing. Below are some trunk-or-treat events in and around Falls Church.

• Vienna Moose Lodge Trunk or Treat Tailgate: Oct. 31, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
