Veterans Day 2017: What's Open, Closed In Falls Church
Veterans Day falls on a Saturday, but some city services will change hours to observe the holiday the day before.

FALLS CHURCH, VA—Veterans Day (Nov. 11) falls on a Saturday this year, but some services in Falls Church will observe the holiday on Friday. Many will head to work and school anyway, but government offices and other services will take a break for the holiday.
City of Falls Church and Fairfax County offices will close for Veterans Day, as well as libraries, while services like public transportation will operate, although on a different schedule.
The city will commemorate Veterans Day with a ceremony at the Community Center (223 Little Falls St.) on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker is former U.S. Army officer Mary Keeser.

City of Falls Church Fairfax County Offices: Closed

Schools and Administrative Offices: Open
State Offices/Courts: Closed
Community Centers: Falls Church Community Center is open 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 11. Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities will be closed Nov. 10.
Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a weekend holiday schedule Nov. 10. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/ for more information. Fastran will not operate on Nov. 10.
Libraries: Closed. Mary Riley Styles Public Library will be closed Nov. 10 and 11.
Metrorail: Saturday schedule. Information available at www.wmata.com
Metrobus: Information available at www.wmata.com
Parking: Parking is free at park and ride locations and Metro parking lots.
Parks: Open normal hours Nov. 10. Colvin Run Mill and Sully Historic Site are open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Nov. 11. E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond and Huntley Meadows Nature Centers are open noon-5 p.m. Riverbend Park Visitor Center will be open noon-5 p.m. Frying Pan Farm Park will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and the Visitor Center from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Green Spring Gardens ' Horticultural Center will be open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and the Historic House will be open noon-4:30 p.m.
Fairfax County Recreation Centers: Open
Recycling: I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) will be open Nov. 10 and 11.
Trash Pickup: Contact individual Fairfax County and private service providers for holiday hours.
