Victims of Oxon Hill Crash Identified As Falls Church Kids

The victims of Sunday's crash were two 5-year-olds and a 1-year-old. The driver was suspected of being drunk, police say.

OXON HILL, MD—Three victims who died in an Oxon Hill, Md. crash Sunday were identified as Falls Church children. 5-year-old Alexander Mejia, 5-year-old Rosalie Mejia, and 1-year-old Isaac Mejia, all of Falls Church, were killed instantly when the crash happened on Indian Head Highway near Wilson Bridge Drive, Prince George's County Police say. Police believe the truck driver may have been under the influence when he crashed into the family's car.

The three siblings and their parents were in the car. The children's parents were taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Investigations revealed a pickup truck rear-ended a car around 9:40 p.m. The family's car was stopped behind two other vehicles for a traffic light. The crash caused two other vehicles to be hit, and the pickup truck came to rest on top of the rear-passenger compartment of the family's car. One of those drivers in the other cars went to the hospital with minor injuries.

The truck driver was taken into custody for sobriety testing and has been released. Charges will depend on the results of the testing, investigation and consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
