Fireball Over Virginia Caught on Dashcam

A bright fireball streaked across the sky Saturday night and was captured in a video by Alexander Salvador in Falls Church.


FALLS CHURCH, VA -- A resident from the Falls Church area captured video of a fireball in the sky Saturday night that was reported by hundreds across the Eastern United States, according to reports by the American Meteor Society.

A fireball is another term for a very bright meteor.

Northern Virginia resident Alexander Salvador captured video Saturday at 6:16 p.m. as he was driving west through the Skyline area, near Leesburg Pike/Route 7 near Falls Church, he said on Twitter.

The American Meteor Society received 315 reports about the bright fireball from residents in Virginia, DC, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Delaware and other states.
