Warm Potato Salad: Falls Church Restaurant Violations

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for local restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from recent inspections in late June. Among the violations were raw foods stored over prepared food at Hunan Cafe.

violations: employee failing to wash hands after activity that could contaminate food, food on display not protected from contamination, foods cold holding at improper temperatures, refrigerator not operating properly

Chipotle: 6299 Seven Corners Center, Falls Church, VA 22044, last inspection: June 19

violations: improper methods to cool food, cooler unit gaskets damaged

Hunan Cafe: 126 W Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046, last inspection: June 20

violations: raw food stored over ready-to-eat food, dirty utensils, walk-in cooler shelves and walls have accumulation of debris and grime

Matchbox: 2911 District Avenue, Merrifield, VA 22031, last inspection: June 19

violation: food not properly cooled within two and six hours

Open Road: 8100 Lee Highway, FALLS CHURCH, VA 22042, last inspection: June 26

violations: improper storage of utensils between use, foods cold holding at improper temperatures (corrected)

Wendy's: 7391 Lee Highway, FALLS CHURCH, VA 22042, last inspection: June 16
