Warm Sour Cream, Salsa: Falls Church Restaurant Violations

FALLS CHURCH, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for City of Falls Church and county restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from recent Falls Church inspections in August. Among the violations were foods normally served cold measured at warm temperatures at a few restaurants.

violations: cooked wings not properly cooled within two hours, cooked chicken and butter hot holding at improper temperatures, salsa and sour cream cold holding at improper temperatures (corrected), improper cooling method for chicken wings, back doors open without screen could allow entry of pests

Cambridge Cafe: 8110 Gatehouse Road 104E, Falls Church, VA 22042, last inspection: Aug. 14

violations: employee did not wash hands or change gloves after handling raw food, employee eating in food prep area, employee drinking from open container, shredded cheese, salsa, sausage cold holding at improper temperatures, lids and utensils not observed to be sanitized, concentration of bleach too high

Park Avenue Cafe: 3300 Gallows Road, Falls Church, VA 22042, last inspection: Aug. 16
