Watch Night Falls Church 2022 To Be Held To Indoors Only
A forecast with rain prompted Watch Night organizers to move the New Year's Eve event to indoors only.
FALLS CHURCH, VA — Watch Night Falls Church, the city's New Year's Eve celebration, will move indoors only due to rain in the forecast.
Event organizers decided to remove the outdoor portion of the event due to the weather forecast. That means the 100 block of W. Broad Street is not scheduled to be closed, and the Historic Star won't be lowered at midnight. The event will still run from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Outdoor amusement activities on Fun Alley and Broad Street are canceled. Bands may be moved to an indoor venue, but a decision wasn't immediately announced. The only outdoor item will be the Virginia is for Lovers LOVEworks letters photo opp at S. Washington and West Broad Streets. A welcome tent will be nearby to direct attendees to indoor venues — the Falls Church Episcopal and Falls Church Presbyterian for tours.
