Meanwhile, detailed proposals for the George Mason High School project are due this week.

The City of Falls Church has released the six conceptual design proposals for the West Falls Church Economic Development Project request for conceptual proposals.
The proposals comes from: Comstock WFC, LLC; EYA, LLC; Fivesquares Development; Mason Greens LLC; Rushmark WFC, LLC and SCD Acquisitions Mid Atlantic, LLC. An evaluation committee is reviewing the proposals and will make a recommendation to the City Council in June. The city will then issue a request for detailed proposals from one of more of the teams.
A final selection could be made in the fall. The project timeline calls for a final land lease or sale agreement for the West Falls Church development in May 2019. Construction would start after the George Mason High School project is complete, or around fall 2021.

Falls Church City Public Schools accepted five conceptual school design proposals for the new George Mason High School campus. Detailed proposals from three selected teams are due May 17. The final construction team will be selected in July, setting the stage for construction to begin around July 2019.
The West Falls Church development will be located on 10 acres of the current George Mason High School campus. This development would defray some of the costs to construct a new George Mason High School. A city economic feasibility study showed a long-term lease or sale could earn up to $45 million.
