Winter Storm In Falls Church: Snow Emergency Lifted

FALLS CHURCH, VA—As snow continues to fall throughout the day, many Falls Church services are closed and snow emergency routes are in effect. City offices are closed, although emergency personnel are reporting as usual. City snow and ice teams are mobilized and are treating roads.

Forecasters are now calling for 4 to 8 inches of snow as the region remains under a winter storm warning until 8 p.m.

  • Annandale Road from Hillwood Avenue to Broad Street (Both sides of street)
  • Broad Street from Haycock Road to Seven Corners (Both sides of street)
  • Columbia Street from Maple Avenue to Tuckahoe Street (Maple Avenue to Washington Street: Both sides of street) (Washington Street to Tuckahoe: North side of street)
  • Great Falls Street from West Street to Washington Street (Both sides of street)
  • Hillwood Avenue from Washington Street to Seven Corners (Both sides of street)
  • Lincoln Avenue from West Street to Yucatan Street (Both sides of street)
  • Little Falls Street from Broad Street to Great Falls Street (Both sides of street)

Openings

  • Dominion Power: Report an outage to 866-DOM-HELP (866-366-4357) or online.
  • Fairfax Water: Report a water main break online, email watermainbreak@fairfaxwater.org or call 703-698-5613.
  • Falls Church Community center: Recreation and Parks programs including the preschool are cancelled until 3 p.m.; a decision about the remainder of the day will be made by 2 p.m. Driving to the community center is discouraged, as the parking lot will likely not be cleared.
  • Metrorail: Trains are operating on a modified weekday schedule both above and below ground. Expect delays. See more information from WMATA.
  • Metrobus: Buses will be reduced by about 60 percent under the moderate snow plan. Some routes will not operate, and riders should plan for delays.
  • Fairfax County Connector Bus: Buses will operate on a Saturday schedule. Some routes will not operate. See more information here.
  • Arlington Regional Transit Bus: Buses will operate on a limited schedule. See more information here.
  • Tree Commission and City Council Appointments Committee meetings (cancelled)
