2 Dead After Fredericksburg Crash, 3 In Critical Condition: Police
2 people died in a crash after a vehicle sped away from a police officer in Fredericksburg. 3 people are in critical condition, police said.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Two people are dead and three more are in critical condition after a crash in Fredericksburg on Monday morning, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. Authorities said a police officer had attempted to stop the car in connection with an armed robbery investigation before the crash.
The police department has not publicly identified the people who died in the crash. Authorities said the families have been notified, and their names would be published within 24 hours.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, a victim called 911 to report an armed robbery in Spotsylvania County. The victim said the suspect's vehicle was driving into the City of Fredericksburg on Lafayette Boulevard, according to the police report.

A Fredericksburg police officer saw the vehicle near Longstreet Avenue and tried to pull it over. The driver ignored the police officer and accelerated, the police department claimed.
The driver turned onto Lee Drive, lost control, and hit a tree. The driver and one passenger died at the scene. Three other passengers are in critical condition at Mary Washington Hospital.
