FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Six Fredericksburg residents were displaced Sunday night following a fire at a single-family home in the Mayfield subdivision, according to authorities.

Units from the Fredericksburg Fire Department responded just before 8:30 p.m. for the report of a house fire in the 300 block of Howison Avenue, according to a city spokeswoman. Fire personnel were in the process of clearing the scene of an earlier fire in the same neighborhood.

"Upon arrival smoke was showing from the left side of the structure and shortly thereafter fire was seen in the same area," the spokeswoman said. "Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire. A search was done and all occupants were located outside the residence at arrival of the fire department."
