Spotsylvania Man Wanted In Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania Sexual Assaults Captured After Pursuit (patch.com) — Residents in Fredericksburg are learning more about a suspect linked to two violent sexual assaults at massage businesses along Plank Road in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania, after authorities captured him following a pursuit. Local police say coordinated detective work connected the March and August attacks, leading to multiple serious charges and an ongoing investigation, and they are urging anyone with information or needing support to reach out to Fredericksburg authorities and local crisis services.

Fredericksburg Council treats the TOD as a promise, not just a map (potomaclocal.com) — Fredericksburg City Council unanimously rejected rezoning and height requests for a proposed data center at 1500 Gateway, saying they owe residents a promise to keep such projects inside the Technology Overlay District. The late-night vote leaves the TOD map unchanged but signals that council views the 2025 data center plan as a binding bargain on where this lucrative but controversial industry should locate in the city.

4. UMW Receives Grant to Launch Composting Program, Expand Food Recovery (umw.edu) — The University of Mary Washington has secured a $432,215 state grant to expand composting and food recovery efforts on campus, with benefits extending across the Fredericksburg region. Faculty, staff, students, and community partners will use the funding to divert food waste from landfills, boost education on food waste prevention, and study how local attitudes and behaviors around sustainability can change over time.
5. From Student-Athlete to Surgeon, UMW Alumna Comes Home to Fredericksburg (umw.edu) — A University of Mary Washington alumna and former women's lacrosse captain has returned to Fredericksburg as a general surgery resident with Mary Washington Healthcare, caring for patients just down the road from her old campus.
