FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A 54-year-old Falmouth woman who was wanted in Fredericksburg on multiple probation-violation cases faces new drug and traffic charges after a late-night traffic stop in Stafford County, authorities said.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office said a deputy saw a vehicle failing to maintain its lane around 11 p.m. Friday near Blue and Gray Parkway and Kings Highway and conducted a traffic stop.
During the initial investigation, deputies determined the driver had a revoked license and that the vehicle was uninsured and unregistered, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities also learned that the driver was wanted in Fredericksburg.
The driver, identified by the sheriff's office as Kathryn Howell, 54, of Falmouth, was arrested. A search of the vehicle resulted in deputies finding narcotics and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.
Fredericksburg Circuit Court records show Howell was wanted in connection with four pending felony probation-violation cases. Three of the cases were reinstated in June and another was reinstated in August. Court records show Howell was taken into custody on those matters following her Sept. 19 arrest.
All four probation-violation cases are scheduled for trial at 9 a.m. Friday, in Fredericksburg Circuit Court, according to court records.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office said additional narcotics were found on Howell after she was taken to Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Howell was charged with possession of Schedule I or II controlled substances, driving after forfeiture of a license, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without insurance, possession of controlled paraphernalia, failing to obey highway lane markings and a charge involving a prisoner possessing a prohibited substance, according to authorities and court records. The drug-possession charge is a Class 5 felony, while the prisoner-related charge is a Class 6 felony.
Court records list the driving-after-forfeiture charge as a Class 1 misdemeanor and the uninsured-vehicle charge as a Class 3 misdemeanor. The unregistered-vehicle and lane-marking allegations are listed as traffic infractions.
Howell's arraignment on the new Stafford charges was continued on Monday, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Nov. 12 in Stafford General District Court.
The sheriff's office said Howell was being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
