Bank Robber Nabbed In Fredericksburg: Police

A man who robbed a Fredericksburg bank and tried to rob a Dollar General in Stafford was arrested Wednesday: SCSO.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—A man who robbed a Fredericksburg bank and tried to rob a Dollar General in Stafford was arrested Wednesday, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Shareek Pittman, 22, of Frederickskburg, was charged with robbery, attempted robbery and served with outstanding warrants out of Fredericksburg.

Last Thursday, April 12, he robbed a PNC bank in Fredericksburg by handing the cashier a note demanding money, an undisclosed amount of which he received before fleeing. This past Monday in Stafford, he tried to rob a Dollar General store on Deacon Road in Stafford.

The cashier said an unknown man entered the store, got a bottled water and some candy and approached the counter. He then handed the cashier a note telling her to act normally and empty the register. She told police the suspect spoke in a soft voice and told her to "give it up," and "hand it over," when he gave her the note. She told him she had to get her manager, after which he left the store.

A bystander told police she saw someone matching the suspect's description riding a pink and blue girls bicycle on Cleremont Drive heading away from the store. That same bike was found when investigators from Stafford and Fredericksburg searched his residence.
